At work we have ‘Dunch’ once a week. People that are learning the language meet for lunch and one of our Dutch colleagues comes along and helps us practice. Having a space to practice speaking Dutch helps a lot.
When I first moved here I used to come home with a lot of wrong things when I went grocery shopping. Now I am getting the gist of the language I can read the packaging and I am getting better at buying the things I actually need!
I feel free here, people are more human, the city is so liveable and there are great social benefits. Dutch people are open-minded and straightforward; I think this saves a lot of time.
